Consumerism

This essay will describe the possible results of an increase in consumerism. There are certain good and bad points, namely tourism and things.

Firstly, now, many countries have some train companies, many airplane companies and many people have a car, so we can go to anywhere by train airplane and car easily. In other words, you can do sightseeing rural area at low price. If rural area held some events, many people come to there and tourists will buy some souvenir, therefore consumerism is useful for economic development projects in the area. However, those means of transportation still have a problem. They emit exhaust fumes. Therefore they are messing up environmental problem.

Secondly, if you have little money, you can get almost things. For example, at 100 yen shops, you can buy almost things for just 100 yen. However, some things of 100yen shops are low quality. They are easily breakable. Therefore some people may buy once again. That is waste of resources. As a result, low quality things may be a cause of environmental destruction.

In my opinion, balance is important in consumerism. If we can have zero-emission vehicles, and have good quality things at all shops, we will be able to live comfortably.

Fair trade

  This essay will describe that fair trade has some good points. First, fair trade encourages development of the local communities. In particular, producers of fair trade goods use their financial and technical expertise in their communities. For example, a coffee co-operative in Mexico started a public bus service in the village. Second, fair trade helps to reduce environmental damage. Many fair trade producers use systems which allow the soil to recover naturally without chemicals. Producers of organic rice in Thailand use traditional techniques which do not use chemicals or exhaust the soil. Fair trade has good points. Therefore, fair trade will keep developing.

Globalization

Today, globalization is very important for people all over the world, but I think that there are a good point and a bad point. Firstly, people can get a huge variety of thing and food. For example, if you want to get inexpensive clothes in other countries, you can find UNIQLO and H&M. So you will be able to get inexpensive clothes. Secondly, farmers may be damaged by other countries. For example, some Japanese vegetables are more expensive than foreign vegetables. So many people will buy foreign countries vegetables and they will suffer an income-cut. As a result Japanese farmers may be damaged. I think that the balance of import and export is important for globalization. If people can keep the balance, globalization will develop in the good direction.

Punk Rock

              Punk doesn't have rules, because there are many kinds of sounds and many kinds of lyrics. For example, sounds are like country, metal, rockabilly, pops and many genres, lyrics are about politics, love and life. Joe Strummer said "Punk is attitude, not style". I think so too. So, I listen to many kinds of punk bands.

              I introduce two punk bands, Social Distortion and Rancid. Social Distortion is from Orange County, California. Front man, Mike Ness is look like tough and strong. Their lyrics are interesting for me, because they sing about life’s pain and love. It’s so cool. Rancid is from California too. Bassist, Matt Freeman is awesome because his performance is very powerful. He is my favorite bass player, so I want to play like him. Rancid always sing about life and friendship. Sometimes their lyrics moved me. Both, Social Distortion and Rancid sing about life. I like bands that they sing about life, because I can sympathize thier lyrics and I can feel so good.

              Some people say “Punk is dead”, but I don’t think so, because The souls of early punk rock bands alive into their records and souls of Social D, Rancid and many punk bands. So I think that Punk is indestructible.
